Just that opening scene was enough to reduce me to the fetal position. And the fact that there's probably no one around who doesn't tense just a bit when they hear "duh-dum" makes me love this movie even though I can only seem to watch it every twenty years or so :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3205240430255489119.post-89250630922197797222010-06-14T11:03:38.948-04:002010-06-14T11:03:38.948-04:00Salem's Lot the mini series was good? How about The Descent or Doomsday (not really a scary movie, but pretty freaky nonetheless). I've seen a lot of recommendations for the movie Martyrs, if you don't mind subtitles, but I haven't seen it myself. Torture flicks are a no-no for me. I'm much more into monster movies than realistic horror.Amanda Younghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17631269469790529611noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3205240430255489119.post-38359822518866096492010-06-14T06:43:10.870-04:002010-06-14T06:43:10.870-04:00OMG I remember Salem's Lot the mini-series! Yo...OMG I remember Salem's Lot the mini-series! You're right, that was sleep-with-all-the-lights-on terrifying. **shudder**
I have not seen The Haunting though. And it sounds like just my sort of movie. There are very, very few slashers that I consider scary. More movie makers should let the viewers' imaginations do the work for them, and it sounds like that's what's going on here. I'll have to check it out, thanks for the rec!Ally Bluehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00474105387867981417noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3205240430255489119.post-50332367364499872292010-06-14T02:13:19.209-04:002010-06-14T02:13:19.209-04:00Scariest movie I know is the original 1963 version...Scariest movie I know is the original 1963 version of The Haunting. It's great because you never see any ghosts or monsters or guys with big knives or anything. It's all done with sound especially and just sheer creepiness.

Then there's the mini-series of Stephen King's Salem's Lot. Not the edited shorter movie version, which is somehow not scary. But the mini-series gave me nightmares!BeeCyclinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03112685054452735536noreply@blogger.com
