Gods, it felt good to do it, too! You were very wise to avoid it.

There's always someone who hated having to read Portait of the Artist.... I loved that book. And The Dead, too. Have you seen the movie? Anjelica Huston stars, and Colm Meany is in it, too, if I remember right.Maia Stronghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08352482028469213261noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3205240430255489119.post-66333087318325025422009-08-13T09:09:27.968-04:002009-08-13T09:09:27.968-04:00George, I love the way you put that. *g*

He was paid by the word, and it shows! I totally agree about Ethan Fromme. Ugh.

Tam, did you finally get rid of the book? I think The Dead is the only Joyce I ever enjoyed.Keira Andrewshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05847603963119665510noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3205240430255489119.post-13154643020271433992009-08-12T13:45:06.437-04:002009-08-12T13:45:06.437-04:00A Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man by James Jo...A Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce. *gag* The only book in university that I never read. For about 10 years it sat on my bookshelf with the page turned over at page 17. I never got further, thank god for in class discussions I made it through the exam based on everyone else. I don't remember WHY I didn't like it, but as I said, I managed to read everything else I was assigned so it must have been something BAAAAAD.Tamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15495571402942021799noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3205240430255489119.post-77308043134986831522009-08-12T10:02:24.222-04:002009-08-12T10:02:24.222-04:00Least favorite literary classic. Both unrelentingly grim and unhappy, with protagonists you want to strangle with your bare hands.Louisa Edwardshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00035634952904038638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3205240430255489119.post-15932993720054801632009-08-11T22:02:25.410-04:002009-08-11T22:02:25.410-04:00Sons & Lovers by D.H.
