Before we started the round-robin, I was going to post about this beautiful children's book, And Tango Makes Three. I borrowed it from a friend and mean to get a copy for myself. It's a true story about a penguin family of two daddies and their chick, Tango. They live in the Central Park Zoo. Coincidentally, now that the round-robin is finished and we're back to regular posting, I received the following link from another friend. She titled the email "People are stupid." Truer words have rarely been spoken. Some idiot has revived the so-called controversy of this book: "Penguin tale tops list of 'challenged' books".
I suggest that those who don't already have a copy conisder buying one. It's a sweet story and the artwork is lovely. Even if you don't want to keep it for yourself, I have no doubt that a public library would love to have the donation for their children's section. I think I'll buy two. :)

You know, what bothers me the most is that there are real issues people could be protesting about, and this isn't one of them. *shakes head*
Agreed. Let's not protest war and injustice and corrupt voting systems. Instead let's make a big deal about gay penguins, because, like, you know, that's really important. ::rolls eyes
What's even scarier is what you can learn if you get on the AFA's email "action alert" list. Any kind of positive portrayal or even expression of homosexuality sends them screaming to pester people with phone calls and emails. I think their latest target was McDonald's for claiming that they had an add that "brags" that it is “a company that actively demonstrates its commitment to the gay and lesbian community.”
Hey. I want some fries now.
