I just finished watching Torchwood: Children of Earth, which is season three (in the form of a five-part mini-series) of the British sci-fi show. It's airing five nights in a row on BBC America starting Monday, July 20. This show always had a sort of goofy quality to it, what with the cheap British sci-fi special effects, the James Marsters appearances and John Barrowman's hammy tendencies. For me that changed at the end of S2 when they shocked me with the turn of events, and with this mini-series, Torchwood really evolved into a very cool show. Russell T Davies has balls. That was awesomely dark and harrowing and heartbreaking.
It's always nice to see a gay relationship in different genres and where it's not the only focus of the show. Not that I didn't love Queer as Folk, but it's refreshing to have it just be part of the storytelling tapestry.

I'm SOOO looking forward to this.
Oh man, it was so good! Gutting, but really well done. I feel like the BBC gave them a much bigger budget this year. Heh.
You are a gigantic tease. :P
It was so good, but like you said Keira. Great writing and what a srsly cool series.
I am so pissed that I start my vacation tomorrow and will be in the middle of nowhere Ohio rather than sitting at home watching it on Space (Canada). Sigh. Guess I'll see it when I get back. Glad its as good as I'm expecting.
I don't get BBCAmerica *wail* but I've been seeing all the advertisements this week. I used to watch it on some HD channel about 2 weeks after it appeared on BBCA, but they haven't shown it in ages. *sigh* I guess I just have to hope they'll stick it on DVD and I can get it.
Glad you enjoyed it too, Sarah, and Tam, I hope you'll enjoy it when you're back from vacation!
Marty, I'm sure it'll be on DVD eventually! Hopefully you don't have to wait that long, though.
