Not finishing....

I was going through my ebook library the other day. There is so many books I've read and enjoyed. I particularly love series. LOL. I know I have a few of my own I'm writing. As I checked over the titles I found this one that I was meaning to see if it continued because there were a few characters I wanted to read their story. I went and looked on the author's site and didn't see anything about another book in the series. So I emailed the author to ask.

When I got the response I was disappointed. The author didn't plan on doing anymore in the series. I was bummed because I wanted to read more. Know about some of the characters I liked happily ever after. I was curious on why they weren't continued the series but didn't ask. So my curiosity on why the books aren't continued and the characters I liked will go unfulfilled because the series will not be finishing.

Days of summer…

Summer has been fun. Yay! I was hot already for a month before summer actually started and it’s been even hotter since it has. This is shaping up to be a long summer. I’ve been getting out and having some fun in the sun. A few of the things I’ve done for summer is go to the park, sitting on a blanket and reading a bit then getting some ice cream. Also went for long walks and enjoying the day. I meet the most interesting people when I’ve done either of my summer fun things. This leads to great conversations. Also there has been many movies this summer that I have seen and even more I plan to see. I love summer! Summer is here and it’s time for fun.

When a man who makes interesting objects from the CD’s of a musician he cannot abide the rhythm for meets him - the sparks are going to fly.

Niall Hilton cringes whenever he hears music from a group that used to be his favorite until after their second album. In his opinion Roarke McBride - the bands lead singer and songwriter – is to blame for the loss of rhythm that had made the band great. When a friend brings the singer into his home Niall is irritated by the intrusion and lets Roarke know his opinion on his music. The singer surprises him with a performance of his latest hits, which to Niall’s shock he actually enjoys. He’s stumped as to why. Although Niall plans not to see Roarke again the musician is determined to change his mind. As he gets to know him Niall is drawn beyond the persona of Roarke the superstar to the man – who is interesting and aggravating.

Roarke McBride is used to some people not enjoying his music and is usually able to shrug it off. Niall’s creations from his CD’s make him laugh thinking it’s a trick until Niall opens his mouth and insults him. Instead of taking it in stride as his norm Roarke is furious, at first. By the next day his thoughts are clear - Niall might hate his music but Roarke is determined to make the stunning man his. Niall was snarky, rude and blunt but as he gets to know him Roarke sees he would stand by his side and weather anything with him. In order for Niall and he to meld they will need to combine their…Opposing Rhythms.

The feel of summer

Summer is here and I’m excited about it. Not only because I have books being released every month of this summer starting this one. My excitement is from the upcoming visit from my family. I get to spend a little of this wonderful summer with my sister and her family. They will be staying with me for a few weeks and I’m looking forward to it. :)

My sister is an avid reader as I am and we have great discussions on books over the phone. Usually in person they get even more fun and better. It’s interesting to see how she feels about books I’ve read and she has. We have similar taste in books but what we take away from the book could be vastly different.

Also her family (hubby and son) they have a wacky sense of humor and have us laughing our butts off all the time. We try to do zingers against each other and that is always fun.

It is shaping up to be a great summer already as I look forward to them coming in July. I’m preparing for their visit cleaning and getting some fun things for us to do. I love the feel of summer.

Making it Real

When I write I have to get really deep into my characters. Live as they have. I know their history every moment they have been through and all the bad, good and in between experiences. It can be an emotional roller coater. When I am in a certain characters head I’m living their life and seeing it as if it is my own. Then I switch to another and go through the same.

What I put on the page isn’t half what they experience but I have to know them well enough to know what shapes them and will make them react or do certain things. I become very intimate…a voyeur to their lives and lay it on the page with each word and emotion. It is exhilarating and consuming. And I love it making it all very real.

Desktop and back to laptop

At the end of the last year I had to send my main computer - my laptop - out for repair. So from the end of Dec. and at the beginning of January I was left me to use my old desktop. My desktop (aka dinosaur) is over 10 years old so it's extremely slow. It takes 20 minutes or more for any program to move on it. At first it was frustrating. But then after being on the dinosaur for a few days it made me think of all the good times I’ve had using it. So I viewed it more fondly. It has server me well. Time for it to retire with grace. Once I get a new desktop I’ve decided to have a memorial for the dinosaur. A great send-off for all our wonderful times. In a way I’m glad that I was able to use the desktop and get to complete my WIP I was working on when my laptop acted up. As well as start another book.

I have my laptop back and have started looking for a new desktop. I'm also thinking of what I will do as a send-off for my old desktop. :)

Holiday Errands

Watching the news this morning I’m glad I went out Friday to do errands so I could avoid the last week Holiday preparations craziness. Whew. It was a busy day but I got everything on my list done. Now I’m doing more baking, wrapping the last of my gifts and listening to Christmas music. :)

After I am done my plan after is spend the rest most of the day there under the covers. I’m going to read, sleep, read then sleep again.

Happy Holidays! I wish you lots of great memories of past, present and future holidays seasons.

The time has flown and I realize that exactly one week from today I have a book releasing. Here is the blurb and excerpt.

Reckless Behaviour

Aidan Vaughn lets himself be swept into a night of passion with a sexy younger man. After their one night of pleasure, Aidan believes he’s seen the last of him. But fate has other plans. The hot young man is crossing his path again and is making his intentions clear. Aidan considers him off limits, at least by his own rules. Yet, Aidan finds himself wondering…was once really enough?

Enrique Matthews is not one to pass up opportunities. And he sure as hell wasn't about to with this one. It didn't matter if it was luck or coincidence that he found the hot older gentleman with whom he’d had one memorable night. Now he had to convince Aidan he wanted more than a one night stand. Will determination and seduction get him what he desires? Enrique was willing, able, and limber enough to engage in a little … hell, a lot… of Reckless Behaviour to get what he wanted … this sexy man for his, now and forever.

Excerpt

“All you have to do is say yes to giving us a shot, Aidan. One little word.” He was whispering against Aidan’s lips.

Aidan wouldn’t look at him and refused to speak. Enrique smiled. Now that he knew he was getting to Aidan, he would wait to hear the words. It would go against his usual way of going full throttle for what he wanted, but he wanted Aidan to say it, because once he did, he was not letting him go.

“I’m going to enjoy hearing you say yes, Aidan,” Enrique whispered, still against Aidan’s lips. “Until then.”

Enrique leant in and kissed him. It was hungry, rough and encompassing. Aidan whimpered and grabbed his head. Enrique hissed as Aidan sucked hungrily on his tongue. Aidan’s fingers clenched in Enrique’s hair, loosening it from its bindings. Enrique leaned against Aidan, rubbing against his hard erection. Aidan made hungry sounds in the back of his throat. Using his tenuous control, Enrique pulled away.

“Is that yes, Aidan?” he asked hoarsely.

“No.” Aidan gulped, breathing hard.

Enrique growled, then kissed him thoroughly again before stepping away. Aidan sagged, then caught himself. Enrique stepped back, watching him. He put his thumbs in the loops at the waist of his jeans. He placed his hands fingers-down, framing his erection.

“When you do say yes, then this is all yours. Until then, I’ll keep touching you, since you like it so much,” Enrique promised.

“I…didn’t say that. Just wondering why you had backed off. But you were right to, since we can’t,” Aidan replied.

“We will,” Enrique vowed.

He studied Aidan, with his glistening lips, laboured breathing and the straining erection in his black slacks. Aidan raised shaking hands and pushed back his short, messy dark hair. Whistling, Enrique turned and swaggered to the other door and out of the classroom.

The Journey

It’s been almost a week since Detour released. For me it had been especially emotional since a little over a year ago I almost wasn’t here to see my book get published.

For a good while I’d toyed with the idea of writing in the m/m genre. I’ve read many great books and wondered if I to could write a book. I did start writing Detour but circumstances and other life things got in the way and I didn’t finish it. At least until after a very trying year which I almost didn’t make it through. I was at death’s door and furious at myself that I hadn’t pursed my dream of writing in the genre I love to read. I vowed then that if I made it I would live life to the fullest and stop putting it off and finish Detour and seriously purse writing in this genre I love reading.

This determination to survive to see more of life and write Detour fueled my recovery. Once I was able to sit for more than a few minutes without pain I set out to do what I promised myself. After everything I picked up Detour to continue. It was a journey for me. It was my way of reaffirming that I was here and that I would embrace every moment of life.

With each word of Detour I got such joy that I was finally doing what I had put off for so long. When I finally finished Detour I cried. Cried tears for completing this journey. Tears of happiness that I finally did it. Cried that no matter what anyone said or even if it didn’t get published I knew that I had actually done as I set out to do all those years ago. Finished Detour. After reading then self-editing and more editing I submitted the book and then went on to write the next. Detour was only the first I wanted to write. After receiving the offer for a contract from Dreamspinner Press to publish Detour I cried again. Detour would be published. Each step to publication was another in the journey, which culminated in the release of Detour last week.

Since the release I have had lots of wonderful emails and comments about the book. I treasure each - even those who didn’t enjoy the book. Each one is part of the journey. My journey is not that uncommon to many others. Many who are or were sicker than I. Some who are no longer here with us anymore. I am one of the lucky ones who can breath deep from the well of life. I am blessed with so many possibilities.

This is just the start of my journey that I plan to continue taking with hopefully lots of more books and living life. *raising a glass in a toast to life.* Life is a precious thing that none of us should ever take for granted. Make sure you go out today and do something you’ve always wanted to do. I’m going to do the same today.

Before I go I leave you with this song which words brought back memories that made me get a teary eyed smile. .

E-Reader Moment

I'm so excited to be a new blogger on Slash & Burn.

A little over a week ago I had a moment. My sis, her hubby and my nieces came by unexpectedly. I was surprised but glad to see them. Well they surprised me with more than a visit. They gave me a new e-reader in celebration of my upcoming e-book releases. My sis said she wanted me to have a shinny reader so I could read the books I enjoy and write where ever I go. I was bawling like a baby. And the reader has Wi-Fi too.

It wasn’t the reader that made me cry it was my sis's support of my writing. I didn't think she understood how much writing means to me. But this makes me know she does. (sniffling then grinning). I've been playing with the reader a few hours now and I'm so excited. My sis and her hubby are so awesome.

The first book I loaded on my new e-reader was the galley for Detour my upcoming Dreamspinner Press. Loading my own book first on the reader was another teary-eyed. Oy. I’m not usually such a crier. Since then I’ve called my sis a few times thanking her and hubby. She just keeps laughing at me.

After loading some of my favorite e-books on reader I was eager to see how they looked on it. They look so great and I was off and reading. It’s been over a week already and I am really enjoying having a reader so I don’t have to read on my computer. I have lots of re-reading in my future. And buying some new books for the reader. I think my wallet and the reader had a chat they are plotting against me. LOL.
